Akari was born in Kobe, Japan, in 1972.
She has always loved painting from early on, and has majored art in a local university. The course of her carrier was impacted by the Hanshin-Awaji earthquake that severely hit the city of Kobe in 1995. She reached out as a mental-health-care volunteer to those who suffered the earthquake that led her to learn in depth about chromotherapy, or color therapy. She has also actively assisted local children as an art therapy teacher in a secure, private space and helped them express themselves freely so that they can recover from trauma caused by the quake.
Her journey as an artist began around 1996. Over the next few years, she has held her own exhibitions as well as joining group exhibitions in major cities like Kobe, Osaka, Kyo-to and Tokyo with her motto “Let go of your desires, let them stir and give you colors to your life.” She has recently joined group exhibitions that were held in cities outside Ja-pan, namely in Paris, New York and Los Angeles.
