Catrice Austin is a versatile, self-taught visual artist and writer based in New Jersey. She specializes in painting, photography, writing, and sculpture. Currently, she has her Bachelors in Science in Diplomacy and International Relations with a minor in Spanish.

Artistic statement
Inspired by her life experiences, Catrice expresses herself and explores the beauty of vulnerability through her abstract paintings. Her use of vivid colors and heavy layering of rough textures speaks to the complex nature of human existence and the many trials and experiences one encounters in their life. “As I continue to grow and expand as an individual, my only hope is to continue to explore and visually show the several changes a human goes through within their lifetime. We evolve so much on a daily basis that oftentimes, these changes cannot be put into words but only felt. The possibilities of who are, are endless—which is quite similar to creating—and I channel that energy into my artwork.”
