Art and painting is a feeling of emotions and fantasies

Katja Lohmeyer was born on January 19, 1972 in Germany. Proud mother of two wonderful sons and married to an equally wonderful man. Her mother was born in the Netherlands, so she went there a lot. As a child, she was impressed by this uncomplicated nature and freedom in this country. This also inspired her to paint and immerse herself in a world of colors and fantasies. So creativity never let go of her and so art was one of her favorite subjects at school. For few years she had a small business where she made jewelry herself and designed according to her idea. But painting has always been a part of her life, whether on nursery walls, on canvases or even in the classroom. During the pandemic, she began to live out her passion for painting. The positive energy that painting gives her, the immersion in imagination, trying different techniques, let her escape from the reality of the pandemic. The spatial conditions in their own building gave her the opportunity to set up and build her own studio. She often starts her work by closing her eyes and imagining what her picture should look like in the end. In the meantime, she decides on colors and techniques and let herself be guided by her feelings. She prefers to work with acrylic paints, resin, paste and create her works with brushes, her hands and various objects, on wood, canvases and other materials.
