Maria Eulalia

Painter

Bio

· Doctorate in Mathematics from UFPE, Federal University of Pernambuco, in 1994, under the supervision of Jorge Hounie, in Partial Differential Equations.

· She studied drawing with Shunichi Yamada (1997 to 2000), sculpture with Maria Helena Assis (since 1993), @helenamdeassis, philosophy and art history with Maria do Carmo Nino (2004 to 2006), @desiqueiranino. These teachers are her main references in art.

· She participated in the exhibitions in Recife:

o Pedra e Ferro, 1996, Baobá Gallery, Joaquim Nabuco Foundation.

o Cities and Words, 2002, Dumaresq Gallery

o The 46th Salão Pernambucano, 2005

o Archeology of the Imaginary, 2007, IAC, Institute of Contemporary Art at UFPE.

The last three in partnership with Rosinha, @rosinhailustra.

· She was a professor at the Departments of Mathematics at UFPE, until 1996, and at UFRPE, Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco, from 2002 until 2017. Until 2009, she coordinated the Scientific Initiation Program originated by OBMEP, the Brazilian Mathematics Olympiad of Public Schools, in the region of Pernambuco.

· She left the visual arts practice from 2005 to 2018. She returned to drawing in 2019, making small-format watercolors and posting three drawings a week on Thursdays to @eulalia_moraes.
