I was once asked to write a creative fictional piece for school about the life of an “empty can of soda.” This piece portrays the life of an angry can of cranberry sauce, finally freed from its confines of round smooth metal. Created to move freely and take the form of any space it might fill, it has lived a deprived life of captivation in the dark, closed away from the world. It has finally been let out. And it is expressing its dissatisfaction in how we’ve kept it for so long…
