Päivi Hakanen Päivi Hakanen is a visual artist based in Helsinki, Finland. She graduated as a Bacherol of Culture and Arts, specializing in Graphic Design, from Metropolia University of Applied Sciences in 2014. For the last few years she has worked as an illustrator. She is also a hobby photographer. ”For me, nature is an endless source of inspiration; finding beauty, peace, and hidden messages. I pay attention in the tiny details: textures, shapes, patterns, colours and light. Everything is always moving, growing and changing.” Over the years Päivi has experimented with different mediums, techniques and styles. She has become more and more attracted to abstract expression. ”I enjoy the intuitive process, the movement, brush strokes, overlapping layers, the built-up paint. It´s all about capturing the moment, feelings and the atmosphere. I like simplicity, harmony and the sense of balance. Unlike many other artists my colour palette is often very limited and subtle. I love the natural light and the way it dances across the canvas.”
