BIO / ARTISTIC STATEMENT

My concept in Art and Design has undergone two turns dictated by interests related to communication: from the individual to the social message, and from the ephemeral to the stable message. The plastic practice of my youth was inscribed in painting; therefore, the enjoyment of his works was reduced, normally, to those who purchased and installed them in their homes or offices. Looking for a greater social projection of my work, I successfully ventured into poster art: his pieces were widely present in the local and foreign urban environment. But, by its very concept, the poster is a perishable message; my services were oriented, then – among other fields – towards long-term programs: complex signaling systems, visual identification systems for institutions and companies, etc. Finally, combining both interests, I entered the field of Digital Art, which fuses the enduring nature of Art with
the greater social accessibility facilitated by the digital medium, making it possible to reach a larger audience and including new generations. This is when I created Moradell Art Digital, a synthesis of an intense experience, marked by the permanent concern for innovation in visual communication and art. In Moradell Art Digital's work, the images come from two sources. On the one hand, they are nourished by reality: images photographs of water, brightness, textures, shapes, taken from the sea, the skies, the vegetation... Images that, through the change of scale and their pixelation, generate chromatic and textural harmonies, essential to the work. plastic. On the other hand, it includes images not extracted from external sources, but created through the digital media themselves. In this way, the catalog of Moradell Art Digital's works covers the gradient that goes from clearly figurative art to the most abstract;
and from the clear form to the textured one through pixelation, a technique that allows obtaining results of very innovative effects in art.

CURRICULUM

• Crea, is a founding partner and director of the Global Group that was formed in Barcelona in 1977 for the development of new forms of habitat, design and visual communication, is the first interdisciplinary group of Spanish design that was made up of visual communication designers, industrial, interiors, architects, sociologists, semioticians, etc.
• Member of the committee for the creation of the Barcelona '92 Olympic posters and creator of an Olympic poster for foreign promotion. • Former member of the Higher Design Council of Catalonia.
• Founder and former member of the Official Professional College of Graphic Design of Catalonia, number 2 of the collegiate.
• Founder and positions in the first meetings of the ADCE*, Art Directors Club of Europe.
• For 7 years President of ADG FAD and of the Council of FAD and 6 years member of the Board of ADG FAD.
• In 1995, 1996 and 1997 advisor to the KIDP, Korea Institute of Industrial Design Promotion, Government of South Korea.
• In 1997, officially considered as one of the two best world consultant designers, among a hundred of the guests
by the KIDP, an agency of the Ministry of Industry of the Government of Korea, for his contribution to the development of Korean design.
• Design strategy and programming advisor for the BCD Foundation (Barcelona Design Center).
• Image Consultant for the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona.
• Creates the LAUS GENERALITAT DE CATALUNYA Award for design and communication for Catalan companies.
• Creates with the mayor of Barcelona Pasqual Maragall the Barcelona Communication Awards for public institutions and the one for students of the Catalan design schools.
• Creates the LAUS Ibero-America Award for design and communication, for all Latin American-speaking countries, within the LAUS Awards. • Creator, editor and director of ADGRAFICA, design and visual communication magazine.
• He is a donor of works to the Museu del Disseny de Barcelona.
• He is a member of the Spanish jury of the New York International Festival in various calls, in the graphic advertising section.
• He is nominated twice for the National Design Awards in Spain.
• Programming, image design, signage and advisor for the Madrid Metro.
• Designs passenger signage for the new Quito Metro (Ecuador).
• Create Moradell Art Digital.
From 1967 to today, he has created more than 3,000 corporate identity, product image, and signage designs for a variety of types of entities, national and foreign companies.
Since 1980 he has given courses and seminars throughout Spain, Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Cuba, Ecuador, USA, France, Guatemala, Holland, England, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Paraguay, Portugal, Dominican Republic and Uruguay.
Numerous publications and media have conducted interviews and published his projects.
