Description
“This picture also depicts my cousin's grandfather's house, but from a different viewing angle. This is the view from the front hall looking towards the dining room. On the right side, there is a staircase, which is the one that leads to the first floor where everyone's rooms are located. The yellow area represents the passageway that I love. I add a red window here, which I have originally forgotten about, but I don't include it in another pair of works because I don't want too many unnecessary elements in that space. However, in this pair of works, I try to create as much space as I could. The blue object is a wall that divides the white space inside into two parts: the right side is the kitchen, and the left side is my cousin's grandfather's bedroom. He moved his bedroom to the ground floor because he is old now and doesn't want to climb the stairs to the first-floor rooms. There is also a space on the left side, which used to be the factory. Now the two rooms are knocked into one, or maybe there was originally a door connecting them—I am not quite sure. Through the factory, there is a door that leads to the flowerbed, which is the viewing perspective of another pair of my paintings. Since there are so many spaces and objects in this painting, I decide to use lighter colours for the upper walls and columns and darker colours for the lower flowerbeds and floor. Otherwise, I am worried that too many colours would make it hard to create a sense of space.”
