Shahd AlMutawa is a painter from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and she draws her inspiration from the mechanics, physicality and spirituality of life. Her motivation to develop her art stems from her city of origin, Dubai. “Growing up in one of the fastest growing cities in the world has not been easy, but definitely a strong catalyst for my growth artistically. I was fortunate enough to be born at a critical time and age in this region, for I grew up witnessing Dubai evolve and grow from a barren desert to what is now one of the most awe-inspiring cities in the world. I still remember the time when “Dubai” was not a commonplace name and had to identify my country of origin with the “Middle East” because “Dubai” and “UAE” were still that foreign to the world.”

Shahd graduated university with a major in Electrical Engineering and a minor in Physics, which has forced her to gauge a deeper understanding about the world from a scientific standpoint. This along with her inquisitive nature reflects in her work. “After graduating and reflecting on life at a deeper level, I’ve been hit with a huge jolt of artistic inspiration to expand and leave my mark on the Art world. I want my art to be all-reaching and inspiring whilst serving as a grand unifier of the human experience.”


ARTISTIC STATEMENT
I appreciate art, humanity and the expression of life; I believe each of us has an obligation to share our unique, individualistic experience and perspective of the world. Art is the very essence that makes us human; that consolidates our natural-borne curiosity and anxious psyches. I continually aspire to create paintings that add value to people’s lives and reflect my individual artistic perspective on life. I wish to contribute to the expansion of human consciousness and sanctify humanitarian values through my paintings.
