Bio

Masahiko Higashi | Japan

The camera is a device for accurately capturing and retaining the surface of things.
I use its characteristics to ask what the unconscious is like and what (transparent) con-sciousness is like. I also examine and explore whether they are existent phenomena. The conscious can acknowledge the existence of the unconscious, but the unconscious can-not acknowledge the existence of the conscious. Similarly, others cannot acknowledge the existence of my conscious and unconscious. In other words, I am an objective zombie in the eyes of others. (A zombie is a state in which there is no consciousness, only the body is moving.)And vice versa. Therefore, there is no way to confirm the existence of consciousness or unconsciousness except for myself, and I can be said to be in a zombie-like state.
What if you were in a state where your consciousness (ego) had disappeared? Imagine that state. We could call it a state of complete nothingness in which only matter (plants and rocks (components)) are active.I have tried to photograph the state of awakening (en-lightenment), the philosophical attainment of the Buddha, and the philosophy of the phi-losopher David Chalmers as a reference.
