Born in 1981 in Heilbronn, Germany as Dominik Paul Schmitz, Paul Michael found his passion to create art during the first lockdown of the COVID19 crisis in Spring of 2020. Years full of interest in art and visiting museums have already passed before but the intention of being an artist came along with Corona and the time given as the world shutted down normal life.
As a complete autodidact without any background in studying art or art history Paul Michael found his own, unique way to use colours and other material like wood or aluminium to create mainly collages and assemblages facing many topics as personal ones like love, ambition and ambiva-lence and also big ones like consume and society.
Most of the artworks of Paul Michael are finished with glittered colours to symbolize the shel-tered life he is living since he was born. As many people in the world are facing hunger, war and death the artist himself lived and still lives a more or less happy and carefree , glittered life see-ing real fear, pain and hunger only on media. So the glitter is a kind of layer between the real life outside far away and the life of the artist and also symbol for the careless western civilization.
Besides being an artist Paul Michael is living close to Heilbronn/Germany running a Sales Agency for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
