Bio
Julia Überreiter was born in Salzburg 1980 and studied Multi Media Arts at the University of Applied Science from 1999 till 2004. 2005 she moved to Vienna and was working as an assistant of different well known Austrian film directors and artists like Sabine Derflinger, Edgar Honetschläger and Thomas Fürhapter. At the age of 29 she applied at the University of Fine Arts Vienna and finished her study of Fine Arts 2017. She is working with different media like sculpture, installation, photography and mixed media, focusing on socio political themes.
In 2010 she took part at the art festival SOHO in Ottakring in Vienna. One year later she exhibited at the 8th. Art Salon of Berlin as well as at the Museum in Progress in cooperation with the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and DER STANDARD, a well known daily left liberal newspaper appearing in Vienna. Afterwards she took part at different shows in London and Vienna she finally exhibited at the Center for Fine Art Photography in Fort Collins 2014. In 2015 she had her fist soloshow at "Red Carpet Showroom Volkstheater", Roter Teppich für Junge Kunst, Vienna. After some exhibitions in Vienna she was showing her work at the RED CARPET ART AWARD (International Promotion of Young Art) in cooperation with Künstlerhaus in Vienna. Some shows in Vienna and London where following till her participation at Parallel Vienna 2019 an annual art fair. 2022 she was exhibiting in New York at Starta Arta Gallery and in Athens at Gallery23. After some exhibitions in Vienna and London she recently participated at AnimaMundi at the international Art Fair in Venice. Soon there will be her solo show Projecting Bodies (working title) a project about body transformation. Julia Überreiters’ multidisciplinary work follows a critical sociopolitical projection.
