Peeling Paint is an oxymoron of everyday life. It is an indicator of rot, decay and ruin turned modern aesthetic and a guilty pleasure. However, just the right amount of deterio-ration can denote style, class and good taste.

From my series, ‘Ordinary Affects,’ coined by Professor of Anthropology Kathleen Stew-art. These are “public feelings that begin and end in broad circulation, but they’re also the stuff that seemingly intimate lives are made...” (Stewart, 2007). Ordinary Affects are those collective gasps or sighs as a result of a shared public experience.
