I'm an abstract artist from the UAE and I paint music. As a person with auditory-visual synesthesia, my connection to music is deeply central to my work. Whether it is going on a long car ride and listening to the radio or a song a friend will send to me, a song will come through my mind and will just feel like the right thing to paint that day: I play the song in loop on my speakers while I paint it, feeling the music as I represent it on the canvas. The energy the music evokes guides me: the canvas becomes the song translated into colours, shapes and textures. I paint what I see. Each art piece is a song and that is how they are titled. I love the multilateral connection that is made from the song coming through and the connections with certain colours that the melodies imprint on my mind; the emotions that I feel and I get to exercise through the spontaneous dance and movement of the brush into the full creation of each piece - the connections never end and that keeps me going.
