Bio

Sandra Márquez (Oviedo, 1984)
She graduated in Art Edition and Engraving and Printing Techniques at the School of Arts in Oviedo. Her works oscillate on the edge of dream and reality. She uses classic iconography, old images found in antique bookstores, photographs and own-made oil paintings, digital illustrations and printed paper to bring life into her collages and images.
During 2011 and 2012 she worked as Project Manager and exhibition officer at Mandarina Editions’ Art Gallery, being responsible of choosing, organizing and designing the exhibitions. Since 2014 she has been working as Chief Editor at Uve Books publishing house. She has illustrated and designed many publications, some of the most recent ones are: The turn of the Screw (Henry James, ISBN: 978-84-945529-9-1), The house of Bernarda Alba (Federico García Lorca, ISBN: 978-84-948073-6-7), The legend of Sleepy Hollow (Washington Irvin, ISBN: 978-84-120341-9-6), Flower’s symbology: arts, cinema and literature (ISBN: 978-84-122180-0-8) along with the illustrator Lelia Álvarez, or Homesickness (Emilia Pardo Bazán, ISBN: 978-84-122180-5-3). She’s also authored many books under the pseudonym of Emain Juliana, in few months Forces of darkness will be published —a book about mythology and history of witchcraft and how it influenced mankind and its main protagonists. This first volume is all about demonic mythology, witchcraft and cursed items and places. Important and terrifying personalities gather in this issue about mysteries, coveted objects, mysterious places and their influence in our culture and arts.
