Rym Saou I was born and raised in Algiers. My country was going throught the terrible « Black Decade ». That’s why parents chose to leave Algeria when I was child, to protect me. Since then, I live in Paris, where I was graduated on Communication and currently work as a press officer in the fashion, luxury and beauty industry. Covid lockdown felt like a rebirth for me. These months of personal thought pushed me to dive deep into myselft and to reckindle my passion for art and creativity, which had remained buried all these years in my mind. These privileged moments ignited my desire to develop my painting skills, in order to reveal my own style, my own signature, and also to reconnect to my roots. I have now a new sight on my paintings. My influences are drawn from the significant history of my country and its various cultures and complex traditions. Algeria runs in my veins, like paint runs on canvases. But my strengh is definitly my hybrid culture, between orient and occident : that’s the message I want to pass with my paintings.
