Clivia Bahrke is a German artist and art educator. She lives in Dresden.
In a city oscillating between the omnipresent baroque past and the modern world.
Her paintings are rooted in geometric abstraction and monochrome imagery.
The experience of 2020, the restrictions and changes that affected us all, brought new impulses for artistic expression. “You look out the window and everything is still. There are no moving people to reveal the dynamism of the world.”
Each scraped work now reveals to us – through colour – a moment in which we continue to be surrounded by dynamism, movement and magic. Despite all the restrictions under which we are currently living.
