Bio

Like many artists, Kristina grew up in a paradoxical position where her creativity was simultaneously encouraged as a hobby and yet greatly discouraged as a professional career choice. Her parents’ plan was for her to join the military, but Kristina had other aspirations and put herself through college to earn degrees in both Graphic and Interior Design. Kristina has spent more than 20 years as a professional in the design industry. In 2007 she picked up her first pastel and paint brush while studying contemporary realism at the Tacoma Academy of Fine Art. However, Kristina didn’t begin a daily practice of painting until a few months ago.
Kristina works in a variety of traditional mediums including oils, acrylics, pastels and pencils. She has also very recently discovered the joy of digital painting with Procreate. Expect many great pieces from this up-and-coming artist as she now has a dedicated studio space to pursue her passion of creating fine art.
Kristina presents The Siren Series for Pretty Perv exhibition and she states:
“Whether you call them sirens or mermaids, legend has it that they have been associated with mysterious disappearances. Stories describe mortals falling madly in love with these majestic beauties and their melodic wonder, never again to return to the plain and mundane lives they previously lead. Some even say these mysterious creatures have RESCUED various sea-going sailors in a time of great need. Others tell stories of the more mischievous nature… some say these “darlings” purposely lead their unsuspecting prey into danger. Were these disappearances merely a result of impassioned love, the folly of a lustful sailor, or something even more malevolent? You decide!”.
