Thoma Sehnsucht is a persōna. It then follows that whatever biography I will try to write it will end up being more fiction than reality. Thoma Sehnsucht is a construct. Why? Because, I think, there is no greater challenge on both sides of the creative act, than to connect exclusively through the image itself. To put all egos aside and just look. And look again… There is no greater miracle than the gazes of two perfect strangers meeting inside an image without them ever knowing each other. Thoma Sehnsucht is a shadow. Because, in the end, what is the truth? The truth is, whether we like it or not, the art object is meant to survive the author. So why bother with the individual?
