Description
Both works‘ theme is the artist couple Jackson Pollock and Lee Krasner. Although Lee Krasner belonged to the first generation of abstract expressionists in New York and thus was an excellent artist, for a very long time she was just seen as Pollock’s wife and stood in his shadow. Even after Pollock’s death it was not until the 1990s that her genius was fully recognized and she is now talked of as “the pioneer of abtract expressionism“. Both my works have kind of an abstract expressionist background hinting at Lee Krasner and an action painting like foreground hinting at Jackson Pollock.
