Marta De La Parra Prieto Marta is visual artist, and aesthete. As a female feminist artist she aims to build and generate feminist artistic solutions. Solutions for women * [Excuse and allow her to use the term as abbreviation for a much larger and even more diverse group of exploited and victimised people of not only women (cis and trans), but also transgender men, of two spirits, non-binary persons, and inclusive masculinities.] empowered and independent. Solutions far from biological archetypes. Solutions far from the constructions of the heteropatriarchy, and contrary to its limitations, simplicity and confinement. A new imaginary - diverse, multiple and empowered - for, not only the independent women of the future, but also for inclusive masculinities, associated (or not) with those independent feminities. ​ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ​ I trust art as the strongest critical thinking tool I have. I develop my work focusing on the discourse, not the discipline. I persistently strive to generate new narratives, while I also study the ones we inherited. My mission is clear, develop statements that not only are aesthetic -beautiful or not- but also political -always political. I believe in art as a political instrument, and as such so is my production. Just like my body and my voice, my art is also a political space. Thoughtout my work, I explore, search, challenge and generate aesthetic, gender and identity constructions, language, culture, iconography, symbolism, heritage, and history -confronting his-story with her-story- among other feminist issues that aim to claim and reclaim the true meaning and value of woman*, womanhood**, and sisterhood***. *, **, *** When I said woman/womanhood/sisterhood, allow me and excuse me… it is a shortcut for a larger and diverse group of victimized and exploited group of not only women (cisgender and transgender), but also transgender men, Two-Spirit, and non-binary people. My statements are odes to the legacy we were given, our truthful legacy, and a celebration of our universe –diverse, proud and empowered. I generate new narratives base upon the true meaning of those concepts, as the truest diverse and large -widely vast and abundant- space it is. And as such, it should be and it must remain, and that is my core goal. ​ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ​ Planteo el arte como una herramienta de pensamiento crítico. Para ello, desarrollo mis piezas centrándome en las narrativas -por y para sus discursos-, y no en las disciplinas -que pueda o no utilizar. Propongo generar nuevas narrativas, así como estudiar y cuestionar las que nos han sido dadas. Mi objetivo, desarrollar declaraciones que no solo sean estéticas -bellas o no- sino también políticas. Siempre políticas, pues creo en el arte como un instrumento político, y como tal también ha de serlo mi producción. El arte, mi arte es para mi un espacio político, igual que lo son mi cuerpo o mi voz. A través de mi trabajo, exploro, busco, desafío y genero construcciones estéticas, de género e identidad, lenguaje, cultura, iconografía, simbolismo, herencia/patrimonio e historia -enfrentando his-story con her-story- entre otras cuestiones feministas que pretenden reivindicar y reclamar el verdadero significado y valor de la mujer *, la feminidad ** y la hermandad ***. *, **, ***, Disculparme y permitirme que utilice esos términos como abreviación para un colectivo mucho mayor y aún más diverso de personas explotadas y victimizadas de no sólo mujeres (cisgénero y transexual), sino también hombres transgénero, de dos espíritus y personas no binarias. Mi trabajo, odas a nuestro legado y una celebración de nuestro universo: diverso, orgulloso y empoderado. Siendo mi meta fundamental, el objetivo radical de mi trabajo, de mi arte, genera nuevas narrativas basadas en el verdadero significado de esos conceptos, como el espacio diverso, inmenso y abundante que realmente es.
