Bio

Chiara Silvano is an Italian artist set in Venice. In 2003 She graduated in Fine Art Painting at the Wimbledon College of Art, in London U.K. After few months spent at the Ecole des Beaux Arts de Nantes, in France, she went back to Italy where in 2007 she got her master’s degree in visual arts. She mainly exhibited in Germany in group shows together with artists such as Baselitz, Grossman and TAL R and in 2015 she had her first solo show in Passau, Germany (Il peso della leggerezza/ Das Gewicht der Leichtigkeit – Solo Show- Spitalhofstrasse 94 Passaou- Curator: Kunstprojekte Sigrun C. M. Leyerseder). She is very interested in the way art act with real life, becoming the trace of our own emotional ways of being. She sees art as a mirror reflecting our inner insight, and she seems to use it as a travel journal. She often uses fabrics, and she likes adding some little embroideries to her paintings.

Statement
“Art follows me, it’s just a way of looking at life. I paint. I draw, I create to keep trace of my existence, just to remember to myself who I am. My main way of expression is painting. I usually like to use oil paint on canvas. I’ve started to add some little embroidery on my canvases as well, finding the visual effect quite interesting end enjoying very much the act of embroidery it-self: it’s slow and my thoughts manage to slow down with it. It is quite like meditate. I’m also very much into collage. I like creating a surface to allow the eyes to move around: our real world is made of things being there quite by chance but with their own harmony and this is well represented by the collage’s technique”.
