Ber Lazarus spent his early childhood and formative years in a small mill town on the edge of a deep boreal forest in northern Ontario, Canada. He came of age in the arts loving, bohemian city of Montreal. Thus natural and urban/industrial sensibilities are deeply interwoven in his vo-cabulary as an artist. In Montreal he completed a degree in Sculpture and Contemporary Aes-thetics at the Concordia University School of Fine Arts (1991). In his art practice he explores the inter-relationship of objects in space. Objects fill our existence, without them our lives would be empty indeed. Every object 'speaks' and a multitude of objects speak volumes. Lazarus' work is in bringing together arrangements of disparate objects to create a coherent and aesthetically stimulating composition all the while challenging the boundaries of painting and sculpture and the limits of the painterly frame. His work has been shown in many group and solo exhibitions in North America and Europe, the most recent being Contemporary Venice, at the Palazzo Bembo, Venice Italy. He is currently based in Ramat Gan, Israel.
