Echo and Narcissus

Echo and Narcissus Photograph on Alu Dibond, height: 30 cm, width: 45 cm, edition 12 pieces, 2020 Description The photograph "Narciss and Echo" is part of the series "Fairy Tales, Myths, Archetypes", in which I deal with figures from Fairy Tales and Myths and from the field of archetypes. "Echo and Narcissus is a myth from Ovids Metarmorphoses, a Roman mythological epic from the Augustan Age. The introduction of the myth of the mountain nymph Echo into the story of Narcissus, the beautiful youth who rejected Echo and fell in love with his own reflection, appears to have been Ovids invention. Ovids version influenced the presentation of the myth in later Western art and literature." Artist: Katrin Loy
