Bio

Gro Glomnes Gro Glomnes is a Norwegian artist born in 1967. She had a long career as a portrait photographer before she began engaging herself in the craft of painting. Gro builds her paintings through an intuitive process that begins from the first stroke, and continues until the final result. Here, an unfolding of colors and shades occur. It’s a process of constant development where Gro explores creativity her own way. Leaving the result both incidental as well as thoughtful. Gro`s paintings consist of layers upon layers of acrylic paint. She has a variety of expressions, leading from very simple to compounded images. She loves to explore new techniques and expressions. Several of her works have a rich focus on detail and pattern, all born from an extra attention to small joys and the love that enriches life. The hours in front of the canvas come from sheer immersion. It takes time to shape a language that slowly takes form. Nothing is decided prior to the brush being picked up. During the process elements are removed and added intuitively. The most intimate is to great inspiration, and changes in time as seasons, atmospheres, activities and emotions evolve. That which is felt, seen and experienced is mixed together. To find room and time to paint, is to give oneself a healing space that touches the deeper strings within.
