Kathy holds a Master’s degree in Women’s Spirituality with Specializations in Spiritual Guidance and Creative Expression. She is a Certified Art of Allowing Facilitator, an intuitive art method that inspires joyful connection with the inner feminine essence. She has taught classes in ecopsychology and spiritual ecology at the undergraduate level for the past seven years and currently teaches in the School of Undergraduate Studies at the California Institute of Integral Studies.

“I began process painting as a meditative exercise about 20 years ago. I paint because it allows me to go deep within to a place of stillness where the chatter of the mind falls away and I sink into an inner space, rich, full and satisfying. Through my experiences with process painting and during my graduate studies in women’s spirituality, I began to see how archetypal images of the sacred feminine were emerging on the canvas. The inner journey of painting and the act of creating a painting through sacred ceremony and ritual is like a pilgrimage to meet some aspect of myself that is in turn healing and deeply satisfying. My experience is that painting is a healing tonic and a journey towards wholeness and inner aliveness. My private group classes combine nature and art practices to help people to build a sacred relationship with the earth and to have strategies to build hope, resilience, joy and create a vision for the world they want to see. I believe that nature plus art equals joy plus resilience.”

Kathy’s art has been seen in group shows in Seattle and Portland and in solo shows in Portland.  Her art is also seen in House and Garden Magazine, The World of Interiors Magazine and Conde Nast Traveller Magazine.
