Elizabeth Bonenfant
Painter
Bio
Elizabeth is an an oil painter based out of Attleboro, Massachusetts. She attended the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and received her Bachelors of Fine Arts in Painting/2D Studies in 2013. Since then, she has focused on developing her visual language by maintaining an art practice out of the basement studio her father built for her in her childhood home. For Elizabeth painting is an instinctive act, providing a space to process and articulate observations and emotions that language fails to fully capture. Compositions emerge intuitively yet are balanced and refined using dynamic symmetry. Heavily influenced by expressionism and impressionism, she employs a vibrant color palette and gestural brushstrokes to express light, form and emotion.
In her current work she explore self-actualization by studying the process of transformation through cycles of growth and decay. This infinity is symbolically inspired by nature, time and duality; cultivating a pseudo-psychic landscape capturing surreal, emotional moments. It emulates the tension between guided versus personal growth. These moments and their details are intimately individual yet, possess collective emotional qualities; revelation induced by maturity, cycles of malaise and grief, misguided ways of seeking comfort; these experiences of consciousness connect us to one another and imbue our lives with meaning.
