Flavia Ocando was born in Caracas, Venezuela on 1981. She currently resides in Uruguay with her husband and two children. Flavia demonstrated an interest in art since she was a child, and visual arts have always been a part of her life via both formal education and self-exploration. She has participated in collective art showings in Spain and her work is also displayed in various private collections in Uruguay.
Flavia’s professional background in psychology has allowed her to merge her knowledge and artistic passion, highlighting the importance of introspection, reflection, analysis and interpretative acuity in her artwork. At the same time, she is a firm believer in love, passion, kindness, solidarity, congruence, dedication, and strive for the achievement of the common good. As such, the motivation for her paintings is grounded in individuals’ virtues independent of their psychosocial and environmental contexts.
Her work demonstrates the fusion of meaning and affective expression where the latter prevails, as evidenced by an explosion of generally vibrant colors. The channeling of feelings is also apparent in the subtlety or boldness of her lines, transmitting a sense of balance between reason and emotion.
