Bio

Born 1948, Perth Western Australia. Studied art at W.A.I.T 1972-1973 where I was guided with my art by the Australian Artist Margaret Woodward. I have always experimented with my art. Beginning with landscapes, and still life, through planets, cowboys and horses, bushrangers, the skulls of different species including humans all in various settings. Whenever I hit a roadblock, I always follow David Hockney’s advice: “Go Back to Basics.” From around 2003 I started drawing and cutting stencils, spray painting, sometimes smudging the stencils on hardboard and canvas to get texture and surprising patterns. In 2014 I had a chance meeting with Australian author Christos Tsiolkas, where I asked him to sign 3 of his books. We talked about books and life. We had two favourite authors in common: Cormac McCarthy and Patrick White. Christos asked, “Are you a writer?” I said “No, I paint.” He asked to see my work, and he and his partner have since bought six of my works. My family have always proudly acquired my paintings, displaying them in their homes. Which means a lot especially in lean times. My son Monte commenced keeping a live record of my art on Instagram in 2018. From this I have acquired many followers and friends, have a lot of contact with other painters and musicians (across pop, punk rock, heavy metal, percussion, piano works, and ethic music) from all over the world.
