Painter

Bio

She is an abstract painter and printmaker. She was born and raised in South Korea but now lives and works in Germany. Academically speaking, she first set out to be a painter but her career path went down a few different avenues. She received a Bachelor's degree in Theater, a Masters in Arts Management and Ph.D. in Human Computer Interaction and Digital Culture in South Ko-rea. During and after her undergraduate studies, she worked for theaters and an opera house as a set designer. During the Ph.D. period, she focused on the psychosocial factors and therapeutic effects of human beings. “Aggressiveness and catharsis” was the focus of her research. Her re-search interests were encompassed and informed by literary and philosophical studies, the social sciences, psychotherapy, cognitive psychology, neuroscience, mental health, and so on. After her studies, she reached the conclusion that she wanted to tell the world through her re-search that “It is basically inevitable that you face your stress and aggressive feelings in your daily life, so I want you to release your negative emotions and find a way to feel some cathartic effects. By doing so, you can make a small change to your mind and manipulate your past memory fragmentation in the positive direction!” She was passionate with writing academic re-search papers and enjoyed it very much. She believed that she could fine some meaningful phenomena through her research which she could apply to her artworks. Based on her previous experiences, she now combines her ideas and concepts and expresses them through her paintings. Her artworks mainly include emotional outbursts from past memories based on her research. - Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Studies, Major of Set Design and Technology - Master of Arts Management, Major of Performing Arts Management - Ph.D. in Human Computer Interaction and Digital Culture - A published author in international academic journals (South Korea, USA, the UK, Denmark, Switzerland, France, Germany, Netherlands, etc.) - Honored with Excellent Paper Awards many times (from national and international academic conferences), Best Paper Nominations two times in a row (in the USA), and academic scholarships (South Korea and Germany) - Granted the Award for Excellent Researcher by the Minister of Education and the Deputy Prime Minister of South Korea in 2016
