Dani Coates is a nonbinary multimedia artist engaging in an ongoing experiment with expressing different forms of queer intimacy using acrylic paint. They work in all different media, from 3D collage to performance to jewelry making, and explore themes of pain and pleasure, self-acceptance, and the complex emotions that arise in experiencing relational change as a neurodivergent person. In Dani’s work, they aim to visually articulate their experiences in their queer body and how other people relate to it, deconstruct ideas of gender and beauty, and inspire people to think differently (and perhaps more colorfully) about the world they live in.
