The hidden meaning of the work prompted the artist to ask that fateful question that has always distressed the human species, and prompted man to want to know himself, repre-senting, in their mixture, a kind of metonymy of thought that does not find a single solu-tion but shows itself open to infinite variables, as many as the number of minds that be-fore the painting will wonder.
