Sara Burnard Hailing from Australia, and having travelled and lived in a variety of interesting places around the world, my artistic style has been influenced by cultural impressions collected along a lifetime of several decades. Cultural impressions from Africa, Scandinavia and the Middle East have left an imprint on my creativity in some shape or form. The inner restlessness I feel, that previously kept me moving around the world, is expressed now through my work in the form of abstract dynamism. My pieces are created with an active energetic exchange; mediums applied forcefully with quick dynamic application or through the use of subtle gravity where the medium does the work itself. The energetic exchange that takes place with the pieces adorned with Swarovski crystals, being the hours of finicky work connecting the crystals to each other, is returned by the movement of light across the piece for the passing observer. I get great enjoyment out of using materials that defy their usual intended purpose. Pairing chandelier crystals together with acrylic glass; applying enamel or polymer sealant to acrylic glass and wood; it's what makes being original in creativity an absolute thrill.
