I, Angela Kushchyk, was born in Kyiv and studied at the Ukrainian Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture. During the first years of my professional career, I focused on my immediate environment in Ukraine and used etching techniques. Later I added paintings to my works. Paintings and graphics have been shown in various countries. Three years ago, I moved to Africa and lived 2 1/2 years in Ethiopia. At this time my major arts project “I’m in Ethiopia” with more than 150 artworks shows the depth of African culture, rhythms and traditions: the tribes of Mursi and Karo in Ethiopia, Masai in Kenya, African expressions of life, dancing, and religious traditions in Lalibela. Portraits with figurative expressions, movements, quiet situations, simple lines and shapes draw you into the interesting and unknown world of Africa. I participated in the Addis International Art Symposium in 2020, met with famous African artists and had my solo-exhibition in 2021 at the St. George Golla Art Gallery in Ethiopia.
