Bio
Abraham Aronovitch My works are characterized by an experimental and imaginative approach to reflecting on and representing complex ideas of identity, experience and history. I work predominantly with acrylic paint on large-scale canvases, often including elements of collage and creating additional elements of texture within the surface of the canvas. Taking a diverse approach, which foregrounds poetic abstraction, I blend elements of figurative, graphic and expressive imagery. The resulting works create an expansive view onto human experience with reference to internal emotional struggles, philosophical contradictions and key societal events. By careful use of line, pattern and oscillating texture I create dynamic movement and optical energy within my paintings, creating an immersive experience for the viewer, drawing their eye across the canvas and into the concepts of the work. Within my paintings, key existential concerns come to the fore in regard to individual mortality, intellectual freedom and the harsh conditions of war. I also reflect on personal experiences of the world such as our interaction with the digital realm and city environments. Latest presentations have included Art en Capital and Mac Paris.
