Joost-Henrik Becker Ideas inspired by dreams or associations are the core of Joost-Henrik’s work. He came in contact early with the creative world. His creativity was supported by a loving grandfather who picked up painting and drawing late in life and encouraging parents who loved story telling and playing make believe with him. After the artist lost connection to this initial spark and lost various loved ones, the local painter Burkhart Königshoff inspired and supported him to find back to his creative potential on his own. This lead to Joost-Henrik Becker studying art and anglistics at the University of Osnabrück. Thus he can pursue both of his passions: visual art and storytelling. A main source of his inspiration are reoccurring lucid dreams. Some of them continue to appear since his childhood. His works are therefore focused on the fantastical, sometimes melancholic but also silly. This results in multiple ongoing projects which still have one thing in common. They act as a channel for the artist to give form to the inspirations which unpredictably but constantly come to him.
