Bio

Jindeok Choi was born on February 19, 1992 near Busan, the second-largest city on the Korean Peninsula. She has loved art since she was a child. However, she hated art courses at school be-cause she did not like to paint according to given rules; her art teacher, for instance, did not accept Jindeok’s blue sun because the sun is yellow. Because of this, Jindeok was stereotyped and since she was not able to live out her artistic creativity during her school days, she was very frustrated. In January 2013, Jindeok moved to Germany to study art, where she graduated and obtained her master degree at Alfter / Bonn Kunsthochschule / Universität. After graduating in November 2020, she moved to Frankfurt am Main and has been active as a young professional artist. Today, she is present at Atelierfrankfurt e.V. and obtained an atelier from the National Art Atelier House. She likes freedom in art and her painting process is intuitive driven: she, in fact, thinks that expressing colour or a certain form in her works is closely related to her personality. Although it is not clear what kind of image the painting will have, she envisions shapes and colours in her head from the beginning, as if those ideas materialise in a specific scene where drawing, colours and background have already been arranged to some extent. Here, temperance only means expressing what she wants to express without second thoughts and constraints. The painting literally becomes an extension of herself.
